Arrived

I don’t have much time… but wanted to let you know that everyone has arrived. No one got left behind. 408 people traveled for several days.

We started last night with music and preaching. The air was so full of the Holy Spirit you could reach out and touch Him. God is faithful.

I have 3 one hour teaching sessions per day, then in between will be full time meeting privately with individual pastors and leaders. Those times have been just as rich.

I feel your prayers.

Broke down trucks

They have some large cattle trucks that they are bringing the P’s on to get here but two of the three trucks broke down.

The drivers were already a day late because they went out drinking the night before they left. These are Colombian commercial drivers who run a transport company on the border. Their equipment is very old.

The poor P’s were crammed in there and broke down yesterday half way here. It’s about a 5 hour drive but yesterday the drivers took a wrong road and got lost. This is a very remote hidden area (for our security) and hard to find. So they got lost and broke down and it took two days to get here.

In the meantime, there are still 155 people at the river bank village waiting the return of the trucks. They are hoping the trucks make it and they can arrive for Bible teaching. Most of these people have traveled several days to get just to the border.

Anyway we have not started teaching till everyone gets here. They are so hungry to hear the word.

Update

Rudy arrived to the conference. He was in good spirits. Thank you for your prayers for him. I found out directly from Rudy that the boy who “hung himself” was 15 years old and had been working in the mines. Upon examination, they determined that he was murdered as there was a severe wound on the back of his head. Somebody hung him up to make it look like he hung himself. The term “brother” is used broadly in P and applied to distant cousins on the father’s side. He was not his own brother. The family is now investigating who murdered him. Much prayer is needed for their hearts. Thank you.

The Lord is speaking to me much from Romans. Please continue to pray. Honestly…thank you so much.

As we await the arrival of the main group I am having good fellowship with E and Rudy.

Made it

Strangely way off the beaten path where we arrived yesterday, having crossed a river by ferry, we have a small cell signal which comes and goes.

We made it safely here where the conference will be held.

Though I had a good amount of sleep last night, I woke with a lousy headache… likely from the several days with limited sleep.

The P’s are on their way over the next 3 days.

Sadly we heard last night that Rudy’s younger brother hung himself yesterday. Rudy is a dear P brother who graduated from the mission’s Missionary School and is now an invaluable part of our team. I don’t know if he will still come to the conference.

I am praying for the Lord’s direction for me as to what subjects and Scriptures to teach. He seems to be leading my heart this morning to teach on the power of the gospel for the believer… we often only think of it’s power for the justification of the unbeliever, but we forget that in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith TO faith… and so the just (those who have been justified by grace through faith) shall LIVE by faith.

Appreciate your prayers for physical strength… good rest… and a spiritual mind and heart.

Bumps on the road, but onward we go

Thank you for your prayers. Much appreciated.

I waited another 6 hours in the airport last night. I enjoyed relaxing. I had some chicken noodle soup and a coffee. I even watched a hockey game on the screen of the airport restaurant. It was finally time to board my plane and we headed off in the night at 1:00 a.m. I got a little bit of rest on the plane; it was actually rather cold. But leaning my head against the window wall, I drifted in and out of sleep a few times during that 4 and 1/2 hour flight. When the sun began shining through my window, we were approaching Bogota. I was exhausted with a sore neck, LOL. I got up to use the restroom and I heard the pilot make an announcement:

“Unfortunately the airport in Bogota is closed so we are having to go to Cali and land there.”

I thought I must be hearing things, but it turned out I wasn’t. The airport in Bogota was closed due to heavy fog, so we had to take an alternative route 30 minutes out of the way and landed at another airport. We had to stay in the plane and wait. I was getting hungry by this time and thirsty so I asked the attendant for some food and she gave me some nuts and water, which was a tremendous blessing. I dozed on and off again in my familiar seat. We had to wait there on the ground another 4 hours until the fog lifted.

I was mainly worried about arriving to Bogota high elevation and getting that nausea again. I made sure I kept hydrating as much as I could. Finally we took off and landed in Bogota at around 10:30 a.m.

I got through customs effortlessly and Russell was there to meet me outside the door. I couldn’t tell if I was dizzy or not, I think just due to the lack of sleep. We went to Russell’s house I ate some breakfast and went to bed. I slept so deep I couldn’t wake up even though I was trying to.

Bottom line is thank you for your prayers I feel good now. I’m off to bed early in order to get up at 3:00 a.m. to head to the Border, to what they call “Tierra Caliente”

I will likely have no internet connection for the next 8 days. But I will have a connection in my heart through the Holy Spirit to you. Thank you for journeying with me.

Doing what I can to serve the Lord Jesus for this short stint in the world.
